Dr. Cambone became a director of Spirit AeroSystems on October 22, 2019. He currently serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Cyber Initiatives, Texas A&M University System. He also holds appointments as the director of the Institute for National Security and Cybersecurity Education and Research (INSCER) and Professor of Practice, College of Engineering at Texas A&M. Prior to joining A&M, Dr. Cambone founded his own consulting company, Adirondack Advisors, LLC during which he advised public and private sector leaders and managers in strategic planning, operations, resource allocation technological trans formation. Previously he held served as Senior Vice President of Mission Systems Business Unit with QinetiQ North America. He also taught at Villanova University and Johns Hopkins University. From 2001-2006, Dr. Cambone served in the Department of Defense, first as special assist ant to the Secretary of Defense, then principal deputy undersecretary of defense for policy and then director of Program Analysis and Evaluation. In 2003, Cambone was appointed as the Pentagon's first undersecretary of defense for intelligence. Prior to his time at DOD, he was a staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory and for a private defense contractor and was a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and director of research for the Institute for National Security Studies and the National Defense University. He received his Ph.D. and Master' s degrees in Political Science from Claremont Graduate School and his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from The Catholic University of America.
